Solace for Mothers does not endorse the professionals on this list. The mental health professionals listed here have identified themselves as working with mothers who have experienced birth trauma. You must conduct your own interview to determine the suitability of a certain practioner to address your concerns. If there is not a mental health professional on this list in your area, you can scan the list for providers who offer phone therapy. The words “phone therapy available” will appear with a check mark in the gray bar under their listing. In addition to offering in person therapy, these mental health professionals are also willing to do therapy over the phone. If you would prefer to find a therapist to work with in person and there is not one on the list in your area, click this link to locate one familiar with postpartum mood disorders. Or, look for a therapist in your area who specializes in trauma, rape or abuse. We recommend you use our resource of questions to consider when interviewing a psychotherapist before selecting a mental health professional to work with.

If you are a mental health professional who has experience effectively working with women who have suffered from birth trauma and wish to be listed here, please fill out our submission form.

Services

I am a experienced EMDR therapist that specializes in the treatment of trauma. I have worked with women experiencing birth trauma,
history of sexual assault and those experiencing PTSD, depression and anxiety.

Experience

I experienced birth trauma some years ago and I was fortunate to have a doula that supported me. I remember being told by family members to "get over it and be happy that I have a healthy baby." It wasn't that easy. I felt guilty for being traumatized. Since that experience, I have been working with women that area. I also specialize in sexual trauma. I have worked with women in instances where their babies were conceived through rape.

General information

At this time, I do not accept insurance. I do offer a sliding scale. Please check my website for any current groups being offered.

Services

We run a free weekly drop-in support group for pregnant and new moms who are finding the emotional challenges of motherhood more difficult than they were expecting. We provide a safe, non-judgmental space to share our struggles as we discuss the realities of motherhood and support each other along our journey into new parenthood. We welcome moms who have experienced trauma or loss during pregnancy or birth. The group runs every Thursday at 1.30-3pm at Tiny Tots in Campbell. We provide free parking and snacks. Babies up to one year are welcome to join.

Experience

Pregnancy and birth can be a beautiful experience but for some of us it can leave emotional scars that take a long time to heal. This can have a huge effect on our ability to bond with our baby as well as take care of ourselves. I founded Supporting Mamas, a 501c3 organization, in January 2015 to help address the lack of resources for moms (and dads) who are struggling with emotional complications, such as pregnancy or postpartum depression or anxiety in Santa Clara County. After my own experience of postpartum anxiety and OCD, I wanted to do something to help other women in a similar situation to me by raising awareness and decreasing the stigma of maternal mental health issues. I am also a California state Coordinator and warmline volunteer for Postpartum Support International.

PSYCH-K: Subconscious Belief Change & Trauma Transformation

Experience

I have been holding "Subconscious Belief Change" sessions with individuals since 2010, officially starting my practice in 2013. Starting at a young age I was always fascinated with Pregnancy & Child Birth. After finding PSYCH-K (and experiencing it in my personal life), I became passionate about working with women and families at any stage of "creating a family". When a woman/family has experienced traumatic birth circumstances it can leave feelings of guilt, anger, sadness, self-doubt, self-punishment, and much more. When these feelings, beliefs, fears and trauma's are left to "fester" in the subconscious & conscious mind it inhibits true healing (emotionally, physically, mentally and energetically) in oneself, romantic relationships and families. These trauma's and limiting beliefs also contribute to high levels of stress and negative emotions in the body, potentially making it a harder and longer path to physical healing/recovery and preparing the physical body for potentially another pregnancy (if desired). With the use of PSYCH-K Belief Change processes, we are able to, at a subconscious level release the limiting (fear/anger/guilty) emotional attachment to the traumatic scenario, allowing ourselves to move forward in our life, while also "re-programming" our subconscious to operate from self-enhancing beliefs ("I forgive myself, "I'm at peace with all the occurred", "I easily become pregnant again", "I trust my body", etc). From these new truths/beliefs, the individual and family can move forward in their lives from an Empowered state.

General information

"Belief Change" processes are easy, fast, and efficient.
Sessions are held over Phone, Skype, Facetime or In-Person.
I may be reached via E-mail or Phone call (719.661.3435).
Schedule is flexible to adapt to your needs.
